Bill and Lionel The "Tournament Guys"
We want to make sure everyone gets to play in our tournaments.  So, if we're a little remiss in sending the information out on upcoming tournaments, you can always check our website for all tournament dates, entry fees and due dates. Last year we had great participation in the NCGA qualifiers. Don't forget to make sure your calendar is clear for the NCGA qualifiers and final rounds.

Par Tee Tournament - Pace of Play Guidelines
Place of play at our Par Tee tournaments has become a significant enough problem that we are running the very real risk of being refused to book tournaments at a few of the courses that we tend to favor.  Thus, we ALL need to be more aware of our individual and group pace of play.  As Tournament Director, I would like to offer up some general guidelines that, if we ALL attempt to follow will speed up our overall pace of play and enhance our Club's reputation and relationship with the courses that we play.

Most courses gage pace of play at 15 minutes per hole per group.  This is certainly reasonable, and, even with an occasional "difficult to locate" ball, is something we should strive to abide by.
  • Without endangering yourself or anyone else in your group, play "ready golf" to the maximum extent possible, THROUGH THE GREEN.
  • Do not hesitate to hit a provisional ball on any shot, if there is ANY DOUBT that you may have a lost ball or be OB.  Contrary to popular belief, there is no neon "L" sign above your head if you choose to hit a provisional ball.  It will save a ton of time if are OB or can't find that little white sucker, versus having to return to the point of your previous shot to "reload".
  • Mark your score(s) on the next tee.  Use the time when others in your group are teeing off to mark your scores versus sitting in your cart adjacent to the green of the hole you have just completed.
  • If playing a "Cart Path Only" hole, be sure to take sufficient clubs with you to be able to make the right choice at your ball WITHOUT RETURNING TO YOUR CART.
  • Be cognizant of the fact that neither you, as an individual player, your foursome, nor Par Tee, as a group, are the only players on the course, and EVERYONE on the course deserves the opportunity to enjoy their round without being unduly delayed by other players.
It would be a huge help if the low handicap in each group serve as the Group Captain/Momma's Helper and assist the Course Marshals in maintaining pace of play for your group.

Thanks to all.   Bill V.
